Typhoon Frank
************* Please Read If You’re a Concerned Citizen. This is a forwarded email from a friend.
Kalibo Aklan has now been declared a state of calamity. The entire metro and its neighboring municipalities have been hit by the recent typhoon, been swept away by flood and mudslide and are now suffering fury and scarcity. Scarcity that is,.. lack of water to drink, place to stay in, food to live with , electicity, transportation, and a driving soul.
Once a jolly, happy province, Aklan has now turned-out to be a semi-ghost town for its inhabitants.
Today, they fight to buy potable water and endure the night’s darkness with only a candle to light their solitary shelter. Lucky are those who have stored enough food in their cupboards for they shall really live and survive hunger until they totally recover from this calamity.
Aklanons are still in the state of shock after what happened. Most if not all are incapable of using celphones and other electronice devices to text or communicate with their loveones in far away places to inform them of their well-being and condition.
Most of us here in Manila are even worried with what had happened to our relatives in our province. Blessed am I to tell you that I was able to have contacted my family and have known that they are in good condition even if most of our resources and belongings have been left damaged and useless. I was really happy to hear my mom utter the following words – “its ok, dont worry about us”. I can’t help it, I need to worry!. I can’t afford living extreme comfort here in the busy metro while they are in a suffering stage in the province.
This is a call for help, a heed for concern, for those fortunate enough to have survived the recent disaster, i ask you to be vigilant and active. Do send food, clothes and other in-kind donations to this needing province.
For my kababayans, I know you will obviously not read this but just be patient and hopeful. Help will come your way as broadcast, print, and radio media will be informed. I know that it will be months and months before we totally recover from this calamity but lets do look on a more spiritual side, you’re alive! What’s good than that?
